WHAT TO EXPECT
BEFORE INITIAL SESSION
You may call my office at 210-632-6652. Please leave a message containing your name, phone number, and the best time to reach you. Your phone call will be returned as soon as possible, typically within 24 hours. When I return your call, this will be the time to ask any questions you may have, learn about my work/therapy, and discuss our options from there. We can also discuss any concerns regarding insurance or payment options. If you decide to give therapy a try, I would like to schedule an initial consultation with you in order to get better acquainted. During our initial phone call, I will give you information regarding the appropriate forms to complete and bring to your initial visit. These documents may downloaded and found under the "Forms" tab above.
INITIAL VISIT
Please plan to come at least 15 minutes early for your initial consultation. If you need directions to either location, you may find them under the "Locations" tab above. Please call me as soon as you can if you will be late, are lost, or need to reschedule. Upon finding the office, please take a seat in the waiting room, and you will be called back shortly. Your first visit will be spent mostly discussing any issues or events that led to visiting with a therapist. We will explore different strategies and discuss plans for future therapy sessions. After we have gotten the chance to know each other better and agree on a course of action from there, we may schedule a time to meet again to continue the therapy process.
COUNSELING EXPERIENCE
Therapy is a time for understanding that leads to growth; choices that turn into actions, and changes that lead to acceptance. People often use therapy as a tool to gain clearer insight on oneself and circumstances. As each person has his/her own unique lives, the counseling experience will be different for each client. Throughout the therapy process, I prefer to use various approaches and therapeutic techniques to help find the best style for each client. I am here to support you in your development of daily functioning as well as a resource to conquer any troublesome barriers to your well-being.
